The SearchCIO-Midmarket 2013 IT Leadership Awards: The Winners

Midmarket IT Leader of the Year Award: Troy Neal

Source:  TechTarget

The 2013 Midmarket IT Leader of the Year Award is given to a leader whose efforts signified an achievement on many levels, including several other categories, and has made a substantial impact to a business or industry. Troy Neal, director of IT at the YES Prep Public Schools, didn't let Hurricane Ike keep him and his IT staff down. Following the hurricane, Neal and his staff took the opportunity to build a state-of-the-art unified communications system on a limited budget.

Neal's IT philosophy? "IT should not drive academic decisions; teachers and academic folks should because they're the experts," he said. "Our job is to help them facilitate that, find what works best for them and work on the right solutions."
