R.I. firm offers SMBs business continuity, data recovery service
Warwick, R.I.-based SafeData LLC, formed last week, plans to offer business continuity and data recovery services to SMBs.
SafeData offers three levels of service, based on how quickly a company wishes to be able to recover its data, ranging from two to 48 hours.
The service is available across business application platforms, including IBM iSeries and PC platforms running Windows.
Prices are customized based on the amount of data, transaction volume and communications links, and can range from $500 per month to $50,000 per month. The company's initial target customers are financial services, health care, manufacturing and distribution companies.
Kerio Technologies updates its SMB MailServer software
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Kerio Technologies Inc. last week launched Kerio MailServer 6.1, which improves on earlier editions by adding Sender Policy Framework (SPF), spam repellent and dual antivirus scanning features.
Designed with SMBs in mind, Kerio MailServer software aims to simplify and improve e-mail, calendar management and collaboration for all types of organizations.
Kerio MailServer is available from more than 200 partners worldwide and starts at $499 for 20 users. Kerio MailServer runs on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.
Updated SMB appliance to protect against online threats and manage Internet use
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based SonicWall Inc. released this week a new version of its Internet security and content management appliance, designed to be affordable and easy to manage for SMBs.
Version 2.0 of the company's Content Security Manager 2100 Content Filter (CSM 2100 CF) features Internet access management and protects against a variety of online threats.
Prices for version 2.0 of the CSM 2100 CF start at $2,400 and include a one-year, 25-user subscription to SonicWall's content filtering service, gateway antivirus and antispyware services. Version 2.0 will be available to all existing 1.0 version customers at no additional charge.
SunTrust Banks introduces online cash manager service for SMBs
Atlanta-based SunTrust Banks Inc. has launched a new online banking service targeting SMBs.
SunTrust's Online Cash Manager service allows SMBs to access account information, make payments and transfers, and perform other check services via the Internet. Unique user passwords, several levels of access authority and other account management features are available.
The service is available in three levels: Online Cash Manager, Online Cash Manager Plus and Online Cash Manager Premium.
SunTrust Banks operates mostly in the southeast and mid-Atlantic states.
Gateway expands notebook sales through Staples stores
Gateway Inc. began selling last week two of its notebook computer models at Staples Inc. retail stores.
The Gateway 3550GZ and Gateway 7330GZ notebooks will be available from any of the 875 Staples stores throughout the United States. Irvine, Calif.-based Gateway noted that the added retail availability comes just ahead of the back-to-school buying season.
The 3550GZ and 7330GZ have suggested retail prices of $1099.99, according to the Gateway Web site.
