CIOs Moving On, Moving In

Plenty of midmarket CIOs celebrated this spring by jumping to new jobs:

CIO Robert C. Ingram III was named senior vice president and CIO for $786-billion Argonaut Group Inc., a national underwriter of specialty insurance products.

Richard F. Connell is the new senior executive vice president and CIO of the $1.6-billion Selective Insurance Group Inc. and Selective Insurance Company of America. Connell is a former Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. CIO.

Mark Hammersmith, former CIO for MetLife's Institutional Business and MetLife Bank, now holds the title of CIO at Wachovia Securities Inc., a $1.9-billion company.

Pants powerhouse Haggar Clothing Co. appointed Gertrude Van Horn senior vice president and CIO of the $488-million company.

Jayne Pendergast is the new Performant Financial Corp. CIO. She made a name for herself as the first CIO for the women's clothing retailer Appleseed's Holdings Inc.

Spirit Airlines, a $450-million discount carrier serving the Caribbean, announced Scott Allard as the new vice president and CIO.

Airline startup Virgin America Inc., which is too new to have a revenue number, has chosen Bill Maguire as the company's first CIO.

Finally, Rich Maradik joined $868-million Gaylord Entertainment Co. as senior vice president and CIO.
