B2B and E-Procurement in the Automotive Industry - Moving Toward a Web-en@bled Dynamic Supply Network

Date Published:
03 JUN 2002
About the White Paper:
E-commerce is equated in the media with the sale of goods to consumers via the Internet. Sites of car brokers such as Autobytel.com are among the most visited on the Internet, and all automotive companies (OEMs) are working on new multichannel portals (Internet, WAP, etc.) to improve their relationships with their customers. However, Business-to-Business (B2B) e-commerce is of far greater short-term economic importance for the Automotive industry than Business-to-Consumer (B2C). By mid-2000, the annual turnover of B2B e-commerce reached 400 billion!, 10 times the turnover of B2C e-business. The total volume of B2B trade via the Web is expected to exceed 2 trillion! in 2004, a large part of it related to the automotive supply chain.
