Content security at hand: Handheld device security

Date Published:
01 DEC 2002
About the White Paper:

Content is a company's most important asset. Mobile devices with and without wireless access are used for creating and storing confidential information every day. If the device is stolen or lost, the information is at risk of being disclosed. If a mobile device has been granted remote access rights to the corporate network, it may offer unauthorized persons a means to access the corporate network. Mobile devices may also be used to distribute harmful content.

Given the special nature of handheld devices, existing security policies do not cover all the aspects of protecting the devices. Companies should include guidelines about using handheld devices in the company security policy or establish a separate policy for handheld devices.
