DEFINITION - CFO (Chief Financial Officer) is a corporate title for the person responsible for managing the company's financial operations. In many companies, the CFO is also the treasurer.

Because managing quarterly results depends on bookkeeping skills, the CFO is often seen as the second most important person in the company, after the CEO.
