Christian McArthur found his way onto the mainframe through a back door of sorts. The 32-year-old was a student at Texas State University two years ago. Texas State doesn't have a mainframe curriculum, but faculty there nonetheless promoted an IBM-sponsored contest called "Master the Mainframe." Never having seen or worked with a mainframe before, McArthur decided to give it a shot and ended up coming in fifth out of about 1,000 contestants. The next year, he received fourth place. And since then, he's been hooked on the platform. In these videos, McArthur discusses his introduction to the platform, mainframe job prospects for recent graduates and how more universities can incoroporate mainframe curricula into the classroom.
