The marriage of mobile and data analytics

Getting the right information to employees whenever and wherever they need it has become an increasingly tricky task for CIOs. Part of the reason is that today's mobile-tethered consumers are now data connoisseurs, and the data they produce has become vital to the business. Equipping employees in the midst of this reality requires CIOs to integrate external data sources and turn to new ways of delivering data. In this issue of CIO Decisions, we examine the tools and applications that are required to keep pace with the evolving relationship between mobile and big data analytics.

Also in this issue, we look at how CIOs must reinvent their roles to stay relevant to the business; examine the Federal Trade Commission's call for more consumer privacy around the Internet of Things; investigate the ways empowering Millennials can foster an innovation culture; look into how two fashion tech startups are using data science to solve the "fit" problem; and sit down with Barclay T. Blair, founder and executive director of the Information Governance Initiative, to discuss how governance and analytics can help mitigate big data risks.
