This definition is part of our Essential Guide: Big data exploration and analytics for CIOs: Oh, the places you'll go
Contributor(s): Francesca Sales

Embedded analytics is the integration of business intelligence (BI) tools and capabilities into business software, including customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), marketing automation and financial systems.

Integration allows business users to easily access BI tools while performing everyday tasks. Having real-time access enables more informed and efficient decision making.

Analytics functionality embedded within  business software includes dashboards, data visualization tools, self-service analytics, visual workflows, benchmarking, static and interactive reports and mobile reports.
